Willie Ray - Style and Influence:
Since he was young, Willie has had a deep appreciation of traditional country music. Greats like Waylon Jennings, Keith Whitley, and George Jones have helped develop his writing style. His music stays close to these styles in spite of the industry opening up to "bubble gum" pop sounds.
Willie Ray & the Smokin' Guns:
In early 2011, Willie Ray and his friend Clay Hoffmann began the Smokin' Gun band to accompany Willie's voice. Through 2011 and 2012, the band has supported Willie, playing various shows and recording a five track EP entitled "Whiskey Hill" along side. While the band has been through member changes, look for a return in early 2013.
Whiskey Hill EP:
Willie Ray's first EP, Whiskey Hill, was recorded in Nashville, Tennessee with producer Troy Cook, Jr. and in Fayetteville, Arkansas with Jordan Lambert. The EP consisted of five original tracks:
